Lao Tzu was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer and the author of the Tao Te Ching. The Tao Te Ching is a book that Lao Tzu wrote while at the border of China. According to legend, he was saddened that men were unwilling to follow the path to natural goodness. Tzu recorded his teachings and then composed in 5,000 characters, the Tao Te Ching; a manual for living, and the book of Taoism (a religion and philosophy believed to be founded by Lao Tzu).
