Happy Super New Moon in Pisces! This New Moon at approximately 20 degrees of Pisces became exact on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 5:00 AM New York time (09:00 GMT).
This is a Super New Moon, as the moon is physically closer to the earth than usual, thus amplifying its effects. This is the final New Moon before the upcoming Equinox and Astrological New Year on March 19/20. This New Moon also marks the beginning of the first Eclipse Season of 2024, as the next Full Moon will be a Lunar Eclipse.
Pisces is a mutable water sign that represents the realms of emotions, spirituality and intuition. It is a flexible, etheric, watery sign that encourages us to feel rather than think. It is the last sign of the Zodiac and the ruler of the 12th House, thus representing our spiritual journey (as Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac, represents the entrance into the physical journey).
It is also the mutable sign that bridges winter and spring in the Northern Hemisphere, as we start to see the first signs of spring come about during this final third of winter! The 12th House rules over the unconscious mind, the dream world and secrets.
The sun and moon join Saturn and Neptune to form a four-planet Pisces stellium, thus really amplifying the Piscean influence on this Super New Moon. Neptune is of course at home in Pisces, the sign that it rules.
The sun and moon sextile Uranus—the planet of freedom and revolution—on this New Moon, creating a strong desire for freedom. Pisces is the etheral water sign, preferring to feel free to go with the flow, rather than locked into a structure or protocol. This sextile provides us an influx of energy to express ourselves uniquely and authentically—and to break free from chains of expectations or unwanted obligations. It’s a very hippyesque energy.
Mercury is exalted in the first degree of Aries in this New Moon chart, giving us the courage to open our throat chakras fully and express ourselves how we want to, without fear.
Mars in Aquarius (ruled by Uranus) tightly squares Uranus in Taurus on this New Moon, creating a volatile, potentially violent energy that will create a lot of accidents and unwanted unexpected surprises. If you are accident-prone, you’re going to want to move through life extra carefully over the next two weeks (and even over the next four). This is a Tower card energy, to relate it to the tarot.
Pisces rules over art, and if you’re an artist of any kind (including not just the visual arts, but also a musician, a writer, a filmmaker, a video game creator, etc.) it would be wise to really take advantage of this lunation (the 28 days following this New Moon) to create, create, create. The creations that come about over the next 28 days will likely really have staying power, due to Saturn being a part of the Pisces stellium.
If you’d like, take a moment now to make a list of any inspirations you’re having right now for things you want to create over the next 28 days and beyond. Especially focus on things that spark a creative excitement within you!
It would be great to try and let your intuition guide your artistic creations as best as you can over the next 28 days.
Pay attention to your dreams and intuitive receivings during this Pisces season, as they will likely give you great inspirations for your creations. We really have a terrific opportunity to connect with our Higher Self, Spirit Guides, loved ones that have passed over, and any astral beings that we enjoy connecting with. The energetic climate is ripe for us to receive guidance regarding our journey ahead.
Personally, I’ve been experiencing really intense dreams over the past week-plus—sometimes feeling like I’ve been asleep for a week and it’s only been a few hours!
Be on the lookout for signs during this time. Schedule some meditation and nature time for yourself and intend to connect with your Higher Self and Guides, and receive guidance.
It would also be a great time to do some intuitive writing. Pick a topic in your life that you’re trying to dissect or figure out, and just start writing about it—see what comes through your pen or fingers on a laptop. Or, write a letter to your Higher Self, Guides, loved ones on the other side, or angels—and then let your pen flow or your fingers type the responses as if you are channeling those responses through.
You might be surprised at the clarity and insight you get from doing this—and it may also assist you in creating a channeling connection with your Higher Self, your Guides, or astral beings that you didn’t even know was possible!
Pisces season is also a great time to do psychic/tarot/oracle card readings for yourself or to go to a trusted psychic. If there’s anything in your life that you have a question about and it is something that you are emotionally invested in, it’s usually better to go to a trusted psychic for guidance rather than trying to read cards for yourself.
As hard as we dig for answers, it is generally always a lot easier to read for someone else than to read for oneself, because when reading for another you aren’t emotionally invested, and thus you are likely able to interpret what you’re reading from more of a neutral place. When you are reading for someone else, you aren’t attached to any outcomes or emotions. You’re not in their journey.
THE THIRD EYE & THE DREAM WORLD
Oftentimes I get asked by people whether their third eye is open or closed, and how to open it.
Well, first of all, almost everyone’s third eye chakra is open to some extent. The third eye chakra is not only in charge of clairvoyance, but it also is also associated with the quality of your thoughts and your decision-making. It can be said that all potential realities come in through the back of your third eye chakra, you ponder the decisions in your mind, and then the choices you make comes out of the front of your third eye chakra.
So, yes the third eye chakra has more of a function than just clairvoyance. It is also used to visualize and imagine. If you have trouble visualizing, then that could be an indication that your third eye chakra is not operating at its optimal function.
I kind of liken the third eye to a shipping dock that handles both imports and exports. You can export by visualizing or imagining, or you can import by seeing/receiving visions. It’s two different functions of the same mechanism. So, in order to open up the ‘importing’ function of the third eye, it can be very helpful to practice more and more with the ‘exporting’ function.
Visualize! Do guided meditations as much as you can. Or simply, set your intention to connect to a place or a period in time (e.g. Lemuria, Ancient Egypt, the Pleiades, your own future) and allow yourself to be taken there.
This takes a lot of practice, and you will likely doubt yourself. There’s really no clear answer on how to know whether what you’re seeing with your third eye is real or illusory (both fall in the realm of Neptune), so use your intuition (also Neptune/Pisces), but also ask whether what you saw makes sense?
Keep a healthy skeptic’s mindset, at least in the back of your mind. Perhaps what you’re seeing is totally real and accurate, perhaps its somewhat real and accurate, or perhaps it’s an illusion. What does your intuition say afterward? What does your logical mind say afterward? Use input from both to form an opinion on the accuracy of your third eye experience.
Another great way to get in touch with the Neptune-ness of this New Moon cycle is to keep a dream journal.
I find my dream world to be fun and fascinating. I often don’t want to wake up because I want to see where the dream will go next. If I wake up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, then when I lay back down, I am excited to re-enter the dream, hopefully where it left off, like I had hit the pause button on my remote control while watching a movie.
Sometimes I find meanings in my dreams, while oftentimes I just see my dreamworld adventures as fun/interesting experiences. If you really want to get serious about interpreting your dreams, then keep a dream journal; and don’t take anything from a dream book or a YouTube video or web page about dream symbols at face value.
Dream interpretation is extremely complex and personal. Sometimes just one or two symbols in a dream are the really relevant parts when it comes to interpretation. But the theme and feeling of the dream must be taken into account, as well as—most importantly—how you felt about the symbols during the dream.
HONORING ALL OF OUR EMOTIONS
Pisces teaches us to feel, honor and appreciate all emotions, even the not-so-comfortable ones. So many Lightworkers are having all sorts of emotions come up during this Pisces season, especially with the saddening wars going on right now.
Sometimes we can clearly attribute uncomfortable emotions we are feeling to something going on in our life or in the world–but oftentimes the emotions seem to come out of nowhere or seem way too potent for whatever seems to trigger it.
Being on a spiritual journey doesn’t mean feeling good all the time—and not feeling good all the time doesn’t mean that you’re not on a spiritual journey. It can be said that the human experience is an emotional experience.
We experience a wide range of emotions in the physical body, and each one is important, whether they feel good or not. There will be periods in your life when you are flying high and feeling the good and fun emotions much of the time; and there will also be times in your life when you will need to face uncomfortable emotions over and over again.
On the other side of the token—but just as importantly—is the idea of honoring all of your emotions rather than pushing them away. Consciously elevating your mood on a daily basis doesn’t mean you avoid feeling. If you feel an overwhelming desire to cry, then cry! Let it flow, or it will just stay locked up, repressed.
If you feel anger come on, take a moment to feel it deeply internally, and breathe with it (feel the core wound, even if only for a moment). Then, when the intensity of emotion passes, do whatever you can to elevate your mood (e.g. take a walk, hug your dog, put on music you like).
Finding a balance between honoring all emotions and consciously elevating your mood puts you into a position of maintaining sound emotional health. This practice in emotional health very much has to do with the health of your sacral chakra. Unfelt, unacknowledged emotions is one way that this orange chakra that is centered about three inches below your navel gets blocked.
The sacral chakra is also the center of creativity, as well as sexuality.
Very talented creative people, like musicians, artists, writers, etc. aren’t necessarily the healthiest and most balanced people emotionally (some are), but they always find ways to express their emotions through their art. The sweet spot in life is to become emotionally balanced, healthy, passionate, expressive and creative.
Let’s now discuss another Piscean topic—duality vs. nonduality.
STEPPING INTO NONDUALITY
Pisces is the sign of duality (thus the fishes swimming in opposite directions in Pisces’s glyph), and the Shadow side of Pisces is judgment. When you consciously work on letting go of judgment of your journey—including how in your mind you compare or line up with others who are on a similar path—you are transcending this Piscean duality and elevating more into the Unity Consciousness of the Aquarian Age.
Judgment of anything tends to hold it in place—whether this is an internal pattern of thought, a habit, a physical issue, or a bothersome life situation. Although this can sometimes seem like a cruel twist, it most certainly has a positive intention.
We are being taught to move from duality to nonduality–to love the Shadow Self as much as the more enlightened self. Anything less than that unconditional love and acceptance will usually cause whatever is being judged to stubbornly stay in place.
We are here to learn to accept ourselves fully, as well as to learn to come into alignment with the ‘ISness’ of life: learning to accept (and ultimately, be grateful for) whatever blessings, triumphs, trials or tribulations the omniscient Universe grants us.
As a corollary, we are challenged to as much as we can release judgment about the play going on on the world stage. The wars, crimes, lies, greed, and corruption are cruel and unjust, yes—however from a nondual perspective, all of the evil people perpetuating these things are simply playing soul-guided acting roles, so to speak, that provide contrast and context for the Lightworkers.
So, rather than expending emotional energy to mentally fight that which is going on in the world that you have zero control over, the nondual perspective would have you accept and see the Divinity in darkness (for darkness is seeking Light, inherently), and to use your energy to create a world more filled with Light.
Instead of trying to uncreate something, which actually energetically reinforces it, the 5th Dimensional way of creating a New World comes about by creating new energetic structures on top of what already is in place—and allowing the old, outdated, and low-vibration to unravel itself.
So, if we wish to see a world without war, then we must visualize a world without war. We also must remember that the outer is a reflection of the inner in one way or another. The discordance in the outside world could be a reflection of the discordance within you, or it could be showing you how far along you’ve come into coherence, as you’ve come to a state of inner peace that doesn’t reflect the discordance in the world.
Either way, if we want to see peace in the outside world, it begins with peace within ourselves. And the best way to become at peace within is to stop fighting with what is.
A wonderful question to ponder is this: What if everything that happens in my life is always for my greater good, no matter what? And if this were really true, would that change the way you think about life? Would it put you at peace?
Here are some other good questions to ask yourself (or preferably, to journal on) during this Pisces Super New Moon time:
- What am I still holding against myself? What am I still holding against the world?
- What have I not yet been willing to forgive myself for? What have I not yet been willing to forgive others for?
- What bothers me or repulses me about the outside world? Is there anything about the outside world that I judge that I also tend to judge in myself?
- Can I acknowledge that there is Divinity in darkness? Can I see the Divinity in my own Shadow aspects?
- Can I bring just a little bit more acceptance to those things about myself that I have not been able to come to accept fully or come to peace with?
- Can I bring just a little bit more acceptance to those things about myself that I feel others judge me for?
- Can I bring just a little bit more acceptance to my exact life circumstances, as they are RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW? What if everything is actually going as planned?
- Can I bring just a little bit more acceptance to what is going on in the world right now? What if everything is actually going as planned?
One of the things that I do with clients in my healing sessions is a process I created called Relinquishing Your Grievances. In it, I walk someone through a process of acknowledging, allowing and then releasing any grievances against self, other, God or life.
Finding forgiveness and letting go of grievances is one of the very best ways to free up space in your energetic field for you to grow, advance spiritually, and create/manifest what you desire in life. If you imagine the flow of your life being like a river, any grievances against self or other would be beaver dams built up in the river, stopping flow.
MASTERING PRESENCE
As Pisces is such an etheric, spiritual aspect of the Zodiac, part of its higher wisdom is to help us learn to become present with life, however life may flow. Any practice that brings you into sacred presence, such as nature walks, exercise, meditation, chanting, baths, prayer, etc. will be very valuable at this time.
Listening to talks by Eckhart Tolle or reading (or re-reading) The Power of Now or A New Earth would also be great for this New Moon cycle.
Another great practice would be to place your feet in a river or a stream, and really get into communion with the ISness of the flowing water (as Pisces is a water sign). Life always flows, no matter what; and the present moment is the only moment that is truly real.
Wishing you a wonderful, peaceful and creative Super New Moon in Pisces!
With Love,
Matthew John
